Capstone books becoming more and more a part of the library. Library is a learning laboratory. http://ed.voicethread.com Use this for student final project. Prezi also used - after school program.

131 schools in DPS - half have certified, half don't. Create title action reports for each library. Create stats reports for all of the libraries. Individual libraries don't have to do this.
Kelly Barry - Adams 14 - TOSA
Works with about 40 teachers - in IT department. Participates in IT dept. walk-throughs. Role is to provide more resources for the paraprofessionals who are running libraries. Expanding into e-readers.
Jessica Babbs, Ranch Creek, Academy 20
Going through IB process. Opened the library with the Power Library principles in place. If teacher librarians are going to be effective, we must have principal support. Open up library once a month evenings for community. 6:30 - 7:30 pm Terrific Tuesday - by grade level. Gets books into the hands of students. Electronic Portfolio - ePearl.http://grover.concordia.ca/epearl/promo/en/index.php Free software. Includes goal setting and reflection.
Suzanne Frachetti - K8 School, DPS
About 6 years ago, realized importance of web presence. Now it is her portal to the world for students. Stuck with a fixed schedule. Uses a wiki - links to tools, step by step directions, etc. Kids are used to going to wiki for all of their project information, rubrics, - it is all there.http://msfrachetti.wikispaces.com/Home Use Glogster to link to different tools. Make it a portal to other places - great for collaborative projects.
Molly Gibney - Adams 12 going to Jeffco
Glogster - motivation is amazing for students. Use of iPods. As a school librarian, our focus has got to be on teaching. We should de-emphasize our role with collection development and circulation. Inquiry - big buzzword. This is the librarians "golden ticket." Also 21st century skills.

Will be half time last year. Has to evaluate what she can do when only half-time. Goal - to read a stack of books almost as tall as she is. :-) Try to create a web presence that is more personal. There will be little time to get to know kids when just 1/2 time. Weebly.com.http://www.weebly.com/Easy to use - free tool. Using http://schooltube.com - can create a school page. Want to make ebooks as accessible as possible. Also using Edmodo. http://www.edmodo.com/ Kids love this! They can discuss books/characters - more willing to do this online forum than face to face.
